I wish I could say that this candle was inspired by an ancestral recipe, but I must admit—it was inspired by an episode of Tucci in Italy! After touring a blood orange orchard and learning about the harvest, Stanley Tucci joined the workers for a rustic lunch al fresco. Fresh picked blood oranges and fennel bulbs were roughly chopped then dressed with a glug of olive oil and a sprinkle of oregano. My family and I made it for ourselves and loved how the dish in its simplicity relied on letting natural flavors sing together. I loved the taste so much that I couldn’t shake the idea of trying to capture it in fragrance form. I hope this candle smells like being transported to that sunny lunch break among the trees of the Sicilian orchard.
